LLG Travels: A Nikki Beach Sunday in South Beach Miami
You Are Here: Nikki Beach Miami » LLG Travels: A Nikki Beach Sunday in South Beach MiamiPretty much everything you read about Miami Beach is true: the sand is white, the skies are blue, the air is warm and the people are friendly. I wish I could come up with some down sides, but it’s tricky. It’s so long since I’ve been on holiday, a real, proper, holiday that I am about as Pollyanna as it’s possible to be right now.
Sure, I’m still trying to slough off the guilt that Clare & I spent half the day eating frozen yogurt and shopping at Bal Harbour yesterday — I do feel like I should be WORKING ALL DAY without cessation, but it’s been really good for me to have a break — (even if I did spend the morning doing email).
On Sunday we checked out of The Mondrian and drove a few blocks from the Bay Side of the island to the Ocean side to Nikki Beach, who had kindly offered to host us for the day for their legendary Sunday afternoon brunch party. Soon we were dithering between waffles with berries and the omelette station, (the food is really good),
I had the spiciest, most delicious Virgin Mary,
before taking up my (generally prone) position on a white curtained & luxuriously cushioned sunbed on stilts.
which afforded an excellent view of the antics going on around us.
In between hops to the buffet for another plate of fruit or berries, we wandered down to the beach to gaze in awe at the honed bodies glistening on loungers, before retreating to our bed camp, with its supplies of People mag, cold drinks and novels.
A perfect Sunday afternoon.
